This patient is a pleasant woman in her 30's who presented to my office with complaints of large heavy breasts and associated symptoms of neck pain, upper thoracic back pain, bra strap grooving, shoulder joint pain and difficulty finding clothing that fits. Her symptoms were unresponsive to special support bras and over-the-counter analgesics. Dr. Albright agreed that the patient was a suitable candidate for breast reduction surgery. Based on her stated goals and exam findings, cosmetic VASER ultrasound-assisted liposuction of each lateral chest was offered to be performed in conjunction with her breast reduction. A Wise pattern (anchor-type scar) and inferior pedicle technique reduction mammoplasty (breast reduction) was performed. Resected breast tissue weights were 1572 grams from the right and 1708 grams from the larger left breast. An additional 1000 mL of excess fat tissue was removed from the sides of the chest. This helped to deliver a better breast shape more balanced contour of the upper trunk. The patient was happy to report dramatic improvement in her neck, back and shoulder pain.
