Total Capsulectomy & Replacement of Ruptured Silicone Implants in The Woodlands

This nice lady reported a remote history of breast augmentation with textured 360 cc McGhan silicone implants to treat breast ptosis after breast-feeding 3 children. Approximately 30 years later, she began to develop bilateral breast discomfort and distorted breast shape. This progressed and the patient was referred to Albright Plastic Surgery for evaluation. Her exam findings revealed painful breast capsular contracture. Preoperative imaging also confirmed silicone implant rupture. To treat these issues, removal of her ruptured silicone implants was performed with a total en bloc capsulectomy. Immediate placement of new smooth, round 325 cc Mentor MemoryGel moderate plus profile silicone gel implants followed. Improved breast shape and implant positioning was immediately observed. The patient reported subjective improvement in her pain symptoms as well.
