When home skin care products aren't effective, but you aren't ready for surgery, consider nonsurgical and minimally invasive skin rejuvenation treatments like microneedling. Plastic surgeon Dr. S. Benjamin Albright is pleased to offer microneedling, also known as collagen induction therapy, at their office in Houston, TX. Microneedling uses many fine gauge needles to safely and effectively create micro-injuries in the needed areas of the skin. The micro-injuries created by the treatment trigger the body's natural production of collagen and elastin, two nutrients that contribute to the health and appearance of the skin. Schedule a consultation at Albright Plastic Surgery to learn more about the benefits of microneedling and ways to customize the treatment for your skin needs and goals.
You may benefit from microneedling if you have mild to moderate skin concerns, like a rough texture or low elasticity. Microneedling treatments can also reduce the appearance of pores, stretch marks, and scars. You should be willing to wait to see the results of your microneedling treatment, since the collagen and elastin will need time to have an effect on the skin, but you will have natural-looking results and better overall skin health.
"I would definitely recommend Dr. Albright and his staff for any plastic surgery work. I have only had facial procedures done by them, so can't speak to the other body work that they do. I took a chance on Dr. Albright as I was referred by another client, who was really happy with her work. In fact, she travels to Woodlands from the Austin area, just to see Dr. Albright. I was really pleased with the results that I had. I had fillers, skinpen microneedling and ultherapy. The ultherapy is still kicking in as it takes a few months. But the immediate results on the filler and skinpen were wonderful. Recommend if you are in the houston area."- S.S. / Healthgrades / Aug 24, 2020
"I saw Dr. Albright and his team for a few services for me including ultherapy, injectable filler, botox, and Skinpen microneedling. First of all, his staff is incredibly warm and welcoming. This was my second time seeing Dr. Albright, and he is very knowledgeable and has a skilled hand on the injections. The ultherapy and skinpen were done by Carrie and Katie, and they are both great. This was my first time seeing Katie, but second time seeing Carrie. They were both kind and also knowledgeable. I previously saw an oculoplastic surgeon in Austin for injectables and the work done by Dr. Albright and his team gave me a much better result. Will definitely see them again."- S.S. / Google / Aug 24, 2020
Plan Your Procedure
what to expect
Microneedling is performed in a treatment room in about 30 – 60 minutes with numbing cream or a local anesthesia if requested, but most patients feel mild or no discomfort. The skin being treated will be cleansed before the microneedling SkinPen® handpiece is passed evenly over the needed areas. After the microneedling is performed, a topical treatment like platelet-rich plasma (PRP) or a vitamin-infused serum can be applied to the treated area for deeper penetration of the nutrients into the skin. A protective moisturizer will be applied along with sunscreen since your skin will be sensitive after the treatment.
You may have some swelling and redness for about a day after the treatment, but this should subside quickly on its own. It may take about 1 – 2 months as the collagen and elastin levels increase before you see visible improvements in the health and appearance of your skin. You should plan to get about 4 – 6 maintenance treatments every 4 – 6 weeks for optimal results and lasting skin health.
